"...it is very hard to pick a favourite track as there are many great tracks, and then there are beautiful tracks like 'State Of Independence', 'Superior Machine' and 'Swallowed'. The beauty of those tracks is rare today, as somehow both instrumentally and vocally, they work perfectly." HEAVY MAG (AUS), Dave Griffiths | 5/5
"From brutish riffing and futuristic AOR sheen on 'Small Dark Lines' and the surging, explosive 'Trust The Process' to wildly catchy turboballadry of 'State Of Independence' and audacious extravagance on climactic epic 'Lost In Translation', this is the finest set of songs the band have ever written and a genuine milestone for the modern prog-metal scene." TEAM ROCK (UK), Dom Lawson | 4,5/5
"THRESHOLD have created a highly engaging, and at times very beautiful epic for which they are justifiably proud... they take the listener on a journey of frequently heavy and very memorable music that fans of song oriented progressive metal will find hard not to enjoy... I can assert that it is an excellent introduction to their music, and imagine that longtime fans of the band will find plenty of things to be excited about as well. Highly recommended." UK progressive metal quintet THRESHOLD release their colossal double concept album »Legends Of The Shires« today via Nuclear Blast. The 11th studio album by the band features old / new vocalist Glynn Morgan, who lent his vocals to the band's 1994 release, »Psychedelicatessen«. In contrast to the more straight-ahead heaviness and traditional structures of 2014's »For The Journey«, the new album is an admirable exercise in flexing creative muscles and revelling in exploratory flair.
The European press is also impressed by »Legends Of The Shires«, which is proved by several great soundcheck positions:
#1 - ROCK IT! (D)
#1 - POWERMETAL.DE (D)
#2 - ROCK HARD (D)
#2 - AARDSCHOK (NL)
#7 - METAL HAMMER (D)
#8 - SPARK (CZ)
To celebrate the release, THRESHOLD have unleashed a lyric video for new track, 'Stars And Satellites'. Watch and listen, here: https://youtu.be/WMbnECa3CJ4
"Welcome to the third single from our new album. It's a catchy little progressive number about finding your place in the world and I hope you enjoy it," says keyboardist Richard West. Karl Groom continues, "I am excited about the release of »Legends Of The Shires« today. It represents a huge achievement for the band and one of the most creative periods we have ever experienced. I hope it connects with those listening and has a lasting impression."
Vocalist Glynn Morgan is thankful for fans accepting him back into the fold and is excited to get out on the road with the guys: "I've always been a fan of the band. I was just a fan, keeping up to date, and I think Karl and Richard's songwriting, they're a great team and it's all good stuff. So when I got the call, how could I say no? A big thank you to all the fans who have welcomed me back. I hope you're loving the new tunes as much as I loved singing them! See you all in the fall on the »Legends« tour."
