Floor Jansen, current touring vocalist for NIGHTWISH and the woman behind the inimitable, powerful vocals that drive Dutch heavy metallers REVAMP, has offered some insight into the lyrics comprising her band’s second studio album, Wild Card, due out in the U.S. & Canada on September 3rd, 2013.

About the new album’s lead-off track, “The Anatomy Of A Nervous Breakdown: On The Sideline,” Jansen shares:
“Three songs are connected to this [‘Anatomy Of A Nervous Breakdown’] theme about the burn-out time that I had. I hope that my words make sense to other people who’ve been through something similar or even in completely different situations. For me it’s good to get rid of certain demons, but it’s not a pure selfish act. I always hope other people can relate to it in a way that fits to their lives. ‘On The Sideline’ is literally about standing on the sideline of my life. That’s how it felt when I was sick. Everything went on, and I didn’t, and I was just looking at it. And it also gave me the time to reflect on how things had been. Even though it was scary, I felt blessed with what happened . . . That’s also why the last sentence in the lyric says, ‘It made me so humble / I’ll stay a little while longer.’”

ABOUT REVAMP: Vocalist/lyricist Floor Jansen decided to continue her career and return to the metal music scene when her first band AFTER FOREVER - founded in 1999 and named after the Black Sabbath song of the same name - officially disbanded in 2009 after releasing five studio albums. Jansen joined forces with two additional songwriters to first compose then record the tracks which became REVAMP’s 2010 self-titled debut album, featuring guest appearances from Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X), Björn “Speed” Strid (SOILWORK), and George Oosthoek (ORPHANAGE, PLEURISY). A live band formed soon after the CD's completion and performed in Europe, which restored Floor Jansen back to her rightful position on-stage.
