The fans of the ESC have the chance to nominate one of the most internationally successful German musicians on February 25th for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm (German National TV ARD, 8.15pm CET, live from Cologne). With AVANTASIA, the most exciting rock opera phenomenon of our times, characteristic mastermind Tobias Sammet creates fantastic parallel worlds with every new release. After he got the invitation to take part, Tobias Sammet thought about it for a while: "It seemed like a quite unusual idea to compete with anyone in art, to play music against someone. It's still weird anyhow, to play music against each other like in the Olympic Games. Anyway, who am I to get in the way of a great promotional opportunity?! Three minutes to show millions that we exist?"
Tobias Sammet also can't complain about sparse international fame until now: He’s already played in more than forty countries all over the world, his last album, »The Mystery Of Time«, hit #2 in the German charts. The most famous musicians come in the studio for his projects: Alice Cooper, members of KISS, MR. BIG, Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker from THE SCORPIONS or, for his current project (»Ghostlights«, out: January 29th via Nuclear Blast), TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider, NIGHTWISH icon Marco Hietala, Ronnie Atkins from PRETTY MAIDS, ex-HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske, Bruce Kulick (former KISS and MEAT LOAF) and WITHIN TEMPTATION power woman Sharon Den Adel. The upcoming »Ghostlights« world tour will take his project to England, Russia, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Brazil, Austria, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Argentina, Chile, USA, Canada, Mexico, Hungary, Slovakia, France, Japan and from March 4th also in ten German cities.
But before that, Cologne is calling for the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST preliminary round on February 25th.
